Mendhar: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, Tuesday conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing development works at Behra in Mendhar during a public outreach programme.
The Minister announced establishment of a new Eco Park in the area with an estimated cost of Rs. 45 lakh, aimed at promoting environmental conservation and providing recreational space for the locals.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister informed that several key road infrastructure projects approved under the Public Works Department (PWD) are currently under execution. These included macadamisation of the Behra–Qasab Road, repair of potholes on the Qasab–Tota Road, construction of upstream and downstream approach works to bridges and development of the Jaba–Behra bypass road. These all projects are expected to significantly improve the connectivity and ease of transportation in the region.
Highlighting the initiatives under the Tribal Sub-Plan, the Minister said that development works at the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Behra, are progressing steadily. These works are aimed at strengthening the infrastructure, improving amenities and enhancing the educational facilities, thereby ensuring better learning opportunities for the students from tribal and remote areas.
To bolster the power infrastructure, the Minister further announced that three transformers have been sanctioned for Mohalla Choora, Mohalla Chowdhirayan and Mohalla Numbardaran, which will help stabilize the electricity supply and cater to the growing needs of the local population.
During the interactive session, the residents raised several demands while seeking speedy redress of the same. These included establishment of playground near Behra, improvement of water supply, installation of hand pumps and provision of other essential civic amenities.
Responding to these concerns, the Minister assured the public that all their genuine demands would be examined and addressed on a priority basis.
The senior officers of the concerned departments were also present on the occasion. They interacted with the public and took stock of their grievances and suggestions.
