Patriotic spirit marks Republic Day 2026 celebrations across Jammu Division

Jammu: The Republic Day celebrations were held Monday across the Jammu division amid elaborate security arrangements.Impressive celebrations featured march-past by the contingents, band performances and scintillating cultural programmes highlighting national unity and regional diversity.The celebrations were held smoothly across the Jammu region, reflecting the seamless preparedness of the respective administrations.

At Doda: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Sports Stadium, featuring a ceremony led by Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Dhananter Singh Kotwal, who unfurled the National Flag while students recited the National Anthem. The event attracted a large audience and included a parade showcasing various security forces and school contingents, reflecting discipline and dedication to the nation. Key dignitaries in attendance included the Vice Chairperson DDC, Deputy Commissioner, and representatives from political parties. In his address, Kotwal extended greetings and paid tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country, particularly those lost in a recent accident in Bhaderwah. He highlighted India’s significant progress towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, noting improvements in road connectivity, education, and healthcare infrastructure. He commended government initiatives aimed at promoting tourism and environmental conservation, as well as the media’s role in nation-building. The celebrations featured cultural performances by students and local artists, including a rendition of Vande Mataram to commemorate its 150 years, alongside patriotic songs and folk performances that showcased the district’s cultural heritage. The event concluded with the distribution of mementos to recognize the contributions of participating schools and officials.

At Bhaderwah: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated in Bhaderwah with significant enthusiasm and a strong sense of patriotism at the New Bus Stand. The event was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, who unfurled the National Tricolour and oversaw an impressive march past. This march past featured contingents from the J&K Armed Police, the NCC Senior Division from Government Degree College Bhaderwah, and the NCC Junior Division from both Boys and Girls Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah, alongside students from various government and private schools. The celebration was well-attended, with notable figures including the Assistant Superintendent of Police, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bhaderwah Development Authority, the District Forest Officer, the Tehsildar, the Block Medical Officer, the Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee Bhaderwah, the Naib Tehsildar, senior citizens, and various officers and officials from all sub-divisions. The event highlighted the community’s commitment to honoring the Republic Day and fostering a spirit of unity and patriotism.

AT Udhampur:  On Republic Day, District Development Council Chairperson Lal Chand unfurled the National flag at Government PG Degree College Boys in Udhampur, leading a march-past featuring 31 contingents from various security and community organizations. The event was attended by notable officials, including DIG Sarah Rizvi and Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, along with senior representatives from the District Administration, Police, Army, and other forces. In his address, Lal Chand emphasized the significance of Republic Day, marking the adoption of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950, which enshrined fundamental rights and established India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic nation. He highlighted the importance of justice, equality, and freedom as core values of the country and acknowledged the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Chand also discussed ongoing developmental initiatives in Udhampur, crediting the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Central Government for the district’s progress. He noted the near completion of the NH-244 Chenani–Sudh Mahadev project, which aims to enhance religious tourism and provide an alternative route to the Kashmir Valley. Additionally, he reported that over 3,000 kilometers of roads have been constructed under the PMGSY scheme, improving rural connectivity. In healthcare, the establishment of the Government Medical College Udhampur, with 300 MBBS students enrolled, was highlighted as a significant achievement. The agricultural sector has also seen support, with over 54,000 farmers receiving assistance under PM-KISAN and more than 41,000 obtaining Kisan Credit Cards. The Mission YUVA initiative has received over 2,200 applications, with more than 1,500 cases approved. Chand commended the efforts of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai and the various security forces for their dedication to service. The event concluded with a cultural program featuring performances that celebrated patriotism and India’s rich heritage. Similar Republic Day celebrations were held across Udhampur district, showcasing enthusiasm and national pride.

At Ramban: Dr. Shamshad Shan, Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC), celebrated Republic Day by unfurling the Tricolor at the District Police Lines. She inspected a parade featuring 23 contingents, including J&K Police, CRPF, and local school students, and took the salute. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including MLA Ramban Arjun Singh Raju and senior officials from civil administration and police. In her address, the Chairperson highlighted significant developmental milestones in the district, emphasizing improved travel comfort on NH-44 due to completed tunnels and viaducts between Nashri and Banihal. She announced the commencement of the Katra–Banihal rail section under the USBRL project and detailed the sanctioning of 2,183 works under the District Capex Budget for 2025–26. Additionally, she reported the completion of 33,565 PMAY-G and Awas Plus houses against a target of 35,479, with ongoing work on 1,914 houses, involving an expenditure of ₹449 crore. The Chairperson also acknowledged achievements in various sectors, including Health, Education, and Agriculture, commending the District Administration for their effective project implementation. She praised the community for maintaining peace and communal harmony. The celebrations included a vibrant cultural program featuring local artists and students, who performed patriotic songs and thematic acts. Awards were presented to outstanding individuals in recognition of their contributions. Similar Republic Day celebrations took place in Gool, Banihal, Ramsoo subdivisions, and other tehsil headquarters across the district.

At Kishtwar: The 77th Republic Day in 2026 was celebrated in Kishtwar with significant enthusiasm and national spirit. The main event took place at the Mini Secretariat, where District Development Council Chairperson Pooja Thakur unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade, and took the salute during the March Past. Various contingents, including those from the JK Police, IRP, CRPF, CISF, and local schools, participated in the impressive display. The National Flag was also raised at multiple locations, including the District Court Complex and various government offices and educational institutions. Key officials, including the DDC Vice Chairperson, Deputy Commissioner, and Senior Superintendent of Police, attended the celebrations. Cultural performances by students highlighted the themes of nationalism and patriotism while adhering to safety protocols. In her address, the DDC Chairperson extended Republic Day greetings and paid tribute to martyrs and freedom fighters, emphasizing the day’s significance in representing India’s integrity, unity, and democratic values. She noted the progress of developmental initiatives in the district, with 1,181 out of 2,565 projects completed and benefits provided to 24,845 individuals under social security schemes. The power capacity in Kishtwar has been increased, significantly reducing power cuts. Additionally, mementos and commendations were awarded to officers for their exemplary service, while students excelling in academics and sports were recognized. The best-performing cultural groups and parade contingents also received accolades, underscoring the community’s commitment to honoring achievements and fostering a spirit of unity.

At Samba: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and national pride by the District Administration Samba at the Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium. The event featured the unfurling of the National Flag by Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Keshav Dutt Sharma, who also took the salute during a march past that included security forces, police, NCC cadets, veterans, and students, symbolizing unity and commitment to the nation. The celebrations were enhanced by a vibrant cultural program presented by students from various schools in District Samba, highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage and conveying messages of patriotism, social harmony, and national integration. This program received widespread appreciation from the audience. The event was attended by notable figures, including MLA Ramgarh Dr. Davinder Kumar Manyal, Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan, SSP Varinder Manhas, and ADC Jagdish Singh, along with local icons, retired army personnel, students, and a large gathering of citizens. The program concluded with the recognition of outstanding performers and participating teams, with awards presented by the DDC Chairman and other dignitaries. The celebration reaffirmed District Samba’s commitment to the values enshrined in the Constitution of India and strengthened the spirit of unity and patriotism among its citizens.

At Rajouri: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotism in Rajouri district, with events held at various levels including district headquarters, sub-divisions, tehsil headquarters, and panchayats. The main celebration took place at the DPL Ground, where Advocate Chowdhary Naseem Liyaqat, the Chairman of the District Development Council, unfurled the National Flag and presided over a march-past featuring contingents from various security and educational organizations. The event was attended by notable figures including MLA Muzaffar Khan, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, and other district officials, alongside a large gathering of citizens. Cultural performances by students and local troupes added vibrancy to the celebrations, showcasing traditional costumes and choreography that received enthusiastic applause. In his address, the DDC Chairman highlighted the significance of Republic Day and the contributions of India’s leaders in establishing the Constitution on January 26, 1950. He noted ongoing developmental projects in Rajouri and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social security, particularly for youth in remote areas. Advocate Liyaqat commended the district administration, especially Deputy Commissioner Sharma, for receiving a prestigious award from the President of India under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative. The celebrations concluded with a felicitation ceremony honoring meritorious students, officials, doctors, and social workers.

At Reasi: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium, drawing thousands of participants, including officials, students, and citizens, fostering a spirit of national pride and unity. Key attendees included local MLAs, the Deputy Commissioner, and other district officials. The event featured the unfurling of the National Flag by the Chairman of the District Development Council, Saraf Singh Nag, who also oversaw a march-past with 21 contingents from various organizations. In his address, the DDC Chairman honored freedom fighters and emphasized the importance of Republic Day as a representation of India’s democratic values and unity. He encouraged the youth to engage in nation-building and outlined various developmental initiatives in education, health, infrastructure, and rural development. He also mentioned the district administration’s prompt response to recent natural calamities, providing essential relief to affected families. Cultural performances by students highlighted the nation’s rich heritage and diversity, while government departments showcased developmental initiatives through tableaux, raising public awareness of welfare programs. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes for outstanding performances. Celebrations were also held across all sub-divisions and tehsils of Reasi district, where local officials conducted similar ceremonies, further promoting the spirit of Republic Day.
