Jammu : The Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board on Monday celebrated the 77th Republic Day with enthusiasm at its office in Jammu with Board Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrab presiding over the event.
Dr Andrabi unfurled National Flag in presence of dignitaries, Board members, and community leaders, including Chief Guest Ashok Koul from the BJP. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Andrabi emphasized the importance of Republic Day in fostering a strong and progressive India, urging citizens to uphold constitutional values and contribute to nation-building and social harmony. In her address, Dr. Andrabi provided an overview of the significant transformation of the Waqf Board over the past three and a half years, highlighting its evolution from struggling to meet basic operational needs to becoming a self-sustaining and professionally managed entity. She noted improvements in revenue generation, management of Waqf properties, and the development of essential amenities for devotees, addressing long-standing infrastructure issues. Dr. Andrabi also pointed out advancements in transparency, governance, and staff welfare, alongside the initiation of projects aimed at preserving religious heritage while meeting modern needs. The event included the recognition of top performers within the Board, which was well-received as a morale-boosting initiative. The celebrations concluded with a collective commitment to societal welfare, protection of Waqf assets, and the ongoing progress of the institution in alignment with the Constitution of India.
