DC Ramban reviews restoration of essential services, road connectivity, snow clearance

Ramban: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan Monday reviewed the status of restoration of essential services, road connectivity and snow clearance operations being carried out by the executing agencies across the district. He also assessed preparedness to deal with the expected snowfall and rainfall during the ongoing winter season.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak; Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather; representatives of NHAI, ACD, CMO, Executive Engineers of PWD, PMGSY, JPDCL and Jal Shakti Department, Assistant Director FCS&CA, besides other officers associated with essential services.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineers of JPDCL and Jal Shakti to work in mission mode to ensure restoration of power and water supply in affected areas and to promptly address any disruption.
Reviewing the status of NH-44, the DC instructed the concerned agencies to ensure regular sprinkling of urea and salt mixture on vulnerable road stretches to prevent snow and ice accumulation and to maintain smooth traffic movement.
While reviewing health sector preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure the availability of doctors, paramedical staff and essential medicines, particularly in remote and snow-bound areas.
The stock position of petrol, diesel and LPG was also reviewed, and the AD FCS&CA was directed to ensure uninterrupted availability of these essential commodities across the district.
To ensure smooth civic services, the DC instructed the CEO, Municipal Council, to ensure timely clearance of snow from lanes and inner roads in Batote, Ramban and Banihal.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed the Executive Engineers of PMGSY, PWD, NHAI and BRO to work in close coordination to maintain road connectivity. Assistant Commissioner Development was asked to coordinate with all BDOs to monitor the availability of essential supplies with special focus on vulnerable and remote areas.
Emphasizing coordinated efforts and close monitoring, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for prompt response by all departments to ensure that the public does not face inconvenience during adverse weather conditions.
