Samba Distt commemorates 16th National Voters’ Day

Samba : The 16th National Voters’ Day was observed with enthusiasm and civic spirit in District Samba at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Complex, Nandini Hills.
The celebration, held under the theme “My India, My Vote,” sought to underscore the importance of democratic participation and strengthen electoral awareness, particularly among youth and first-time voters.
The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the District Election Officer, Samba, Ayushi Sudan.
The ceremony was presided over by senior district officials, including Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Samba, Jagdish Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Ajay Bharti; and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Garu Ram, along with other officers and officials of the district administration.
The occasion witnessed significant participation from NCC cadets, college students and newly enrolled voters. The gathering collectively administered the Voters’ Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to upholding democratic values and ensuring active participation in the electoral process. Addressing the gathering, ADC Jagdish Singh highlighted the vital role of youth in strengthening democratic institutions, stating, “Our youth are the cornerstone of our democratic framework and their active participation in elections shapes the future of the nation.”
As part of the commemorative activities, recognition was accorded to young voters, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) voters, senior citizens, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and election officials in appreciation of their contributions to the electoral process. The key highlights of the programme included the promotion of informed and responsible voting practices, encouragement of enhanced youth participation in electoral processes, felicitation of election functionaries and stakeholders and a civic rally reinforcing voter awareness and democratic commitment.
The programme culminated with a rally symbolizing the collective resolve of the community to uphold democratic principles and exercise the right to vote responsibly.
