Reasi: The 16th National Voters’ Day, 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour in ReasiSunday under the theme “My India, My Vote.”
The event was organised to promote electoral awareness and encourage active participation of citizens in the democratic process.
District Election Officer Reasi, Nidhi Malik, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the importance of voting as a fundamental right and a vital civic duty of every citizen. She emphasised that a strong democracy rests on the informed and responsible participation of voters, particularly the youth, who constitute the backbone of the nation.
Students from various schools across the district participated actively in the programme. They delivered speeches highlighting the significance of National Voters’ Day, the value of free and fair elections and the crucial role of young voters in shaping the future of the country. Their presentations reflected a strong sense of awareness and commitment towards democratic values.
To further enhance engagement, a quiz competition on electoral processes and constitutional values was also organised. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and served as an effective platform for spreading electoral awareness in an interactive manner.
Certificates were also distributed to officials and staff who displayed outstanding performance during the General Elections.
The programme concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony, wherein participants pledged to uphold democratic traditions and exercise their right to vote responsibly and ethically. A signature campaign was also organised to further reinforce the importance of electoral participation among citizens.
Among others present on the occasion were ADDC Reasi, Sukhdev Singh Samyal, PO POSHAN Sudershan Kumar, Deputy DEO Nitin Verma, Dy SP (HQ) Vishal Jamwal, Chief Education Officer, Tehsildar Reasi and other district officers.
