Jammu : Senior IPS officer Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, a 2009 batch officer currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic in the Jammu Zone, has been honored with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Officials said that this award recognizes his significant contributions to policing and public service. Dr. Mughal hails from Bhaderwah in the Doda district and has held various key operational and leadership roles throughout Jammu and Kashmir. His experience includes serving as Superintendent of Police (SP) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in multiple districts, including Handwara, Kishtwar, Baramulla, Rajouri, and Srinagar. Notably, he was the SSP of Srinagar during the critical period following the abrogation of Article 370 from 2019 to 2021. His career also encompasses roles in Vigilance Jammu, CID Kashmir, and Traffic NHW, and he is currently serving as DIG for the Rajouri–Poonch Range from 2022 to 2024. In addition to his policing career, Dr. Mughal is an accomplished academic, having earned a Gold Medal from Aligarh Muslim University and a Ph.D. from Jamia Hamdard in New Delhi. His accolades include not only the President’s Police Medal but also several gallantry and meritorious service medals, along with commendation discs from high-ranking officials, including the Army Commander, DGP J&K, VC Naval Staff, and DG CRPF.
