GMC Ang organises one day CME ‘Cardiac Care 2026’

Experts deliberated on emergency care for heart attack patients during CME

Anantnag : Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag Saturday hosted a major Continuing Medical Education (CME) event “Heart Care 2026: Navigating the Clinical Pathway for Acute Myocardial Infarction”, at main campus here.
The programme was conducted under the patronage of Principal, GMC Anantnag , Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb and over 300 delegates participated in the CME to discuss improving emergency care for heart attack patients in South Kashmir. The event started at 9 am and concluded at 5 pm and the CME was accredited by J&K Medical Registration Council for 4 credit hours.
The event was organized by the Department of Cardiology at GMC Anantnag, led by Incharge Head Dr. Syed Maqbool, with support from Dr. Shamim Iqbal, Dr. Showkat Hussain Shah, and Dr. Shahood Kakroo, all working as cardiologists at GMC Anantnag.
The CME featured eminent cardiologists from SKIMS and GMC Srinagar like Dr. K. Iqbal, Dr. Nisar Tramboo, Dr. K. Aslam, Dr. Khalid Mohidin, Dr. Bashir Naikoo, Dr. Nazir Lone, Dr. Imran Hafeez, and Dr. Irfan bhat. Specialists from private hospitals like Paras, Khyber, Noora, and Ujala Cygnus as well as Physicians from across South Kashmir.
The key highlights of CME were deliberations on enhancing acute care for Myocardial Infarction (MI) in peripheral areas and streamlining transportation for Primary PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) to centres with catheterization labs. Clinical discussions included immediate drug therapy, thrombolysis, managing conduction disturbances, preventing sudden cardiac death, and the logistics of patient transfer to specialized facilities.
Principal GMC Anantnag, Dr Rukhsana Najeeb congratulated the department of cardiology for conducting such a high Level CME on Cardiac Care with great success.
Experts and delegates who participated in the CME, described it as a major success.
