Open Mic event held ahead of National Voters Day
Kathua : In connection with the observance of the 16th National Voters Day, an Open Mic programme was organised Saturday at the District Sports Stadium-Kathua, to promote democratic values and encourage greater participation of citizens in the electoral process.
As many as 50 students from different schools of the district actively participated in the programme and showcased their talent through a vibrant mix of cultural, devotional, patriotic and folk songs.
The performances reflected the rich cultural diversity of the region while also conveying messages of unity, patriotism and civic responsibility. The programme created an engaging and lively atmosphere, drawing appreciation from the audience present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Sharma, who is also District Election Officer, appreciated the participating students for their confidence, creativity and artistic skills and lauded their efforts in using cultural expressions to spread awareness on social and national themes. He encouraged the students to continue nurturing their talents and to actively contribute to nation-building through positive and responsible actions.
Speaking on the significance of National Voters Day, observed annually on January 25, the Deputy Commissioner, he appealed to the public, particularly first-time and young voters, to exercise their franchise with responsibility, awareness and integrity.
Certificates and souvenirs were presented to all the participating students as a mark of appreciation for their enthusiastic participation and commendable performances.
ADDC, Surinder Mohan Sharma, ADC, Vishavjeet Singh, ACR, Vishav Partap Singh, CPO, Ranjeet Thakur, Dy DEO Nagesh Singh, CEO Kewal Krishan along with other district officers were also present on the occasion.
