New Delhi|Jan, 24 :  IPrime Minister Narendra Modi  on Saturday addressed the 18th Rozgar Mela via video conferencing and distributed appointment letters to more than 61,000 young people joining various government departments across the country.

The event, held simultaneously at 45 locations nationwide, showcased the government’s continued commitment to employment generation and nation-building.

Launching the event, PM Modi highlighted the symbolic importance of the day, coinciding with key national celebrations including Parakram Diwas, National Voters’ Day, and the adoption day of India’s National Anthem and National Song.

“Today, more than sixty-one thousand young people are beginning a new chapter in their lives by receiving appointment letters for government services,” he said. “These letters are not just jobs; they are an invitation to nation building and a pledge to accelerate the creation of a developed India.”

The Rozgar Mela, now an established institution, has so far issued over 11 lakh recruitment letters, playing a vital role in connecting youth to government employment and self-employment opportunities. “To bring government recruitments into mission mode, the Rozgar Mela was launched, and over the years it has become an institution,” the Prime Minister said.

Addressing the aspirations of India’s young population, which makes the country one of the youngest in the world, PM Modi emphasized the government’s efforts to create wide-ranging opportunities domestically and internationally. “The Government of India is entering into trade and mobility agreements with numerous countries, opening countless new opportunities for the youth of India,” he noted.

Highlighting India’s economic growth and global standing, the Prime Minister pointed out that India is the only major economy to have doubled its GDP in a decade. “More than a hundred countries are investing in India through foreign direct investment, which means more employment opportunities for our youth,” he said, citing unprecedented growth in sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, defence, and automobiles.

On the role of women in the workforce, PM Modi was optimistic: “In this event, more than 8,000 daughters have received appointment letters. Over the past 11 years, women’s participation in the workforce has nearly doubled.” He credited schemes like Mudra and Startup India for boosting female self-employment and leadership in startups, MSMEs, and cooperative sectors.

The Prime Minister also underscored the government’s ongoing reform drive, dubbed the “Reform Express,” aimed at simplifying life and business in India. “Next-generation reforms in GST and historic labour reforms have strengthened social security for workers and employees, benefiting businesses and youth entrepreneurs alike,” he said.

The Prime Minister urged the newly appointed employees to improve government services and ensure citizen-friendly governance. “Remember your own experiences with government offices and resolve to eliminate hardships for citizens during your tenure,” he advised. He encouraged them to continuously upgrade their skills through platforms like iGOT Karmayogi, which has already empowered around 1.5 crore government employees.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh and other dignitaries were also present at the event.
