Srinagar : District Legal Services Authority Srinagar Thursday convened a meeting under 2nd Mediation for Nation Drive chaired by Haq Nawaz Zargar, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Coordinator District Mediation Centre Srinagar), with all the judicial officers of District Court Complex Srinagar.
The judicial officers were sensitized about the importance of mediation in reducing pendency and ensuring timely, amicable resolution of disputes. Emphasis was laid on identifying suitable pending matters, including civil disputes, family conflicts, commercial cases, MACT claims, land acquisition issues, bank recovery suits, and compoundable criminal cases for referral to mediation centres.
The Coordinator highlighted that mediation plays a pivotal role in the justice delivery system by providing parties an opportunity to resolve dispute amicably. It enhances access to justice, reduces pendency and not only expedites justice but also preserves relationships and restores mutual respect between parties, a sentiment echoed in both national policy documents and authoritative legal scholarship, he added. He further urged judicial officers to spearhead case identification and foster a culture of dialogue within their respective jurisdictions.
