Kupwara : Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, Thursday chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the overall functioning and performance of the Education Department in the district.
During the meeting, Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad, presented a comprehensive presentation highlighting the progress and achievements of the department. It was informed that a total of 1376 government schools are currently operational in the district, including 155 High/Higher Secondary Schools, 655 Middle Schools, and 566 Primary Schools. In addition, 316 private schools are also functioning across the district.
The meeting was apprised that during the current academic year, government schools in Kupwara district achieved a pass percentage of 85.26% in Class 12th and 79% in Class 10th examinations. It was further announced that the top five position holders each from Classes 10th and 12th will be felicitated by the District Administration during the Republic Day celebrations.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the heads of institutions that have recorded poor academic performance to hold consultations with teachers and parents and make concerted efforts to improve academic outcomes.
It was also informed that under District CAPEX 2024–25, Robotic Labs have been established in five Higher Secondary Schools located at Kupwara, Handwara, Tangdar, Keran, and Machil.
The DC also reviewed the progress under various other sectors, including Smart Classrooms, Composite Schools, Aspirational District indicators, AMFs, Samagra Shiksha, KGBVs, PM POSHAN, and Scholarship schemes. He stressed the need for enhanced dedication and coordinated efforts from all concerned officers to achieve the prescribed targets, with special emphasis on the Aspirational District Programme.
The meeting was attended by CPO Kupwara Parvaiz Ahmad Lone; CEO DEPO, ZEOs and other concerned officers.
