Students sensitised to significance of National Song, road safety

Jammu: As part of the ongoing Phase-II celebrations, commemorating 150 years of the National Song “Vande Mataram,” the District Administration Jammu, in collaboration with Jammu Police and Traffic Police City Jammu, Wednesday organised a series of awareness programmes across various educational institutions in the district.
The week-long campaign, scheduled to culminate on Republic Day (January 26, 2026), aims to instill a spirit of patriotism while sensitising the youth about civic duties, new criminal laws and road safety.
Traffic Police City Jammu is observing the week as “Vande Mataram – A Spiritual & Patriotic Ode to Mother India”, focusing on fostering responsible road behavior alongside national pride.
In the City North zone, programmes were held at Government Girls HSS Mubarak Mandi, Government Central Basic HSS Purani Mandi and Oriental Model High School.
Police officers, including SHO Pacca Danga, Inspector Rakesh Manni and SHO City Inspector Shakti Devi interacted with students and staff.
The events featured the rendition of Vande Mataram, followed by talks on the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters. Officers also imparted awareness regarding the new criminal laws (BNS), emphasising constitutional values and responsible citizenship.
Similarly, events were held at Government HSS Channi Himmat and Boys GHSS Bakshi Nagar, where police personnel engaged students on the significance of the National Song and the role of discipline in nation-building. At Govt. High School Qasim Nagar, a special session highlighted the chronological journey of the song and sensitised 50 students on the legal and social consequences of drug abuse, motivating them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from Principals, faculty and students, reflecting a collective commitment to fostering national pride and democratic values.
