Kupwara: As part of the ongoing nationwide commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram, the Sub-Divisional Administration Handwara organised a Torch Rally to mark the historic milestone and honour the legacy of India’s freedom movement.
The rally was attended by officers of the sub-division administration, police personnel, youth representatives, and members of civil society. The event served as a symbolic tribute to the enduring values of unity and national pride associated with Vande Mataram, which has played a significant role in inspiring generations during the freedom struggle.
The Torch Rally commenced from the playground of Boys Higher Secondary School Handwara and culminated at the premises of the Administrative Complex Handwara, reflecting a collective commitment to remembering the nation’s historical journey.
The programme was organised as part of a series of activities aimed at highlighting the importance of the national song and its contribution to India’s struggle for independence.
