G’bal: Police in Ganderbal have secured a conviction in a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar the Sessions Court Ganderbal after thorough investigation and robust prosecution by police granted conviction of one Abdul Gani Sheikh, a resident of Wanihama-Bala Nagbal, in case FIR No. 230/2017. The court imposed a sentence of five years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 25,000, highlighting the gravity of offenses associated with narcotic drugs. Police in its statement said that conviction by the court shows professionalism and effective coordination of the J&K Police, which ensured the collection and presentation of credible evidence in court. The prosecution was led by PP Shafat Ahmad, with arguments presented by PP Syed Jahangir Rafeeqi, contributing to the successful outcome of the case. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance against drug trafficking and abuse and strict legal action against offenders for establishing a drug-free society.
