Police arrest two drug peddlers in Sopore; Contraband substance recovered

Srinagar:, Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in, Sopore, and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that during a naka checking a battery-operated auto bearing registration number JK01BA-8171 was stopped while traveling from Iqbal Market towards Main Chowk in Sopore. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities recovered a substance resembling poppy straw in the possession of the auto driver and another passenger. The individuals involved have been identified as Sabzaar Ahmad Sheikh, the driver, and Manzoor Ahmad Sofi, a passenger. A case has also been registered at Police Station Sopore under FIR No. 19/2026, and an investigation is currently underway to identify the source of the substance and any broader network involved in drug trafficking. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to zero-tolerance stance against drug-related offenses and strict law enforcing for protecting the youth and society from the dangers of drug abuse.
