Shopian: As part of the ongoing Road Safety Month, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Shopian Wednesday organized an awareness camp at Bus Stand Batapora, Shopian to sensitize drivers and the general public about road safety measures.
The awareness programme was attended by Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), Waheed ul Islam, besides Presidents of various Sumo Stands, drivers, and other stakeholders present at the bus stand.
Speaking on the occasion, the MVI highlighted the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules for ensuring road safety. He urged drivers to avoid over-speeding, wear seat belts while driving, and emphasized the compulsory use of helmets while riding two-wheelers. He further stressed that responsible driving behavior can significantly reduce road accidents and save precious lives.
The officers also interacted with drivers and transporters, appealing them to act as ambassadors of road safety and to cooperate with the department in creating a safer road environment for all.
The programme witnessed active participation from drivers and transport union representatives, who appreciated the initiative taken by MVD Shopian during Road Safety Month.
