DGP J&K Reviews Security, Anti-Terror Ops In Shopian Ahead Of Republic Day

Shopian: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat (IPS), on Wednesday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the District Police Office (DPO) Shopian to assess the prevailing security situation and review ongoing anti-terror operations, with a special focus on arrangements for Republic Day–2026.
Prabhat, chaired a comprehensive Security Review Meeting at the Conference Hall, District Police Office (DPO), Shopian, to assess the prevailing security scenario and review operational preparedness ahead of Republic Day–2026.
During the meeting, the DGP J&K conducted a detailed review of law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures and security arrangements for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.
He emphasized the need for heightened alertness, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination and robust intelligence-based operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations across the district.
Addressing the officers, the DGP J&K issued clear directions to deal firmly and decisively with anti-national elements posing a threat to public safety, peace and tranquility.
He reiterated zero tolerance towards activities inimical to national security and stressed the importance of sustained operations against such elements and also urged officers to maintain a people-friendly policing approach while continuing to work with dedication, professionalism and commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure a secure environment for the citizens of Shopian.
The meeting was attended by Special DGP Coordination S.J.M. Gillani-IPS, IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi-IPS, DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo-IPS, SSP Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, along with Gazetted Officers, SHOs of Shopian district Police.
