DC reviews Food Safety Enforcement measures in Reasi District

Reasi: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik Wednesday chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee on Safe Food and Healthy Diets to review the implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
ADDC, Sukhdev Singh Samyal, PO POSHAN, GM DIC, Dy SP (HQ) Vishal Jamwal and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on strengthening enforcement mechanisms and ensuring strict compliance with the provisions of the Act.
Enforcement Officers apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the actions taken against violators, including penalties imposed on erring traders, regular inspections conducted, food samples lifted for laboratory testing and prosecutions launched against defaulters under various provisions of the Act.
The Deputy Commissioner underlined the importance of joint inspections by the enforcement departments and random sampling of food items to effectively deter violations and send a strong message to defaulters.
