Ramban: As part of the ongoing Veterans Day celebrations, the Delta Force of the Indian Army Saturday organised a Veterans Meet at Maitra- Ramban, with a focus on the welfare and well-being of veterans, Veer Naris and Veeranganas of the district.
The event witnessed the participation of over 150 veterans, Veer Naris and Veeranganas, many of whom attended along with their families. The large turnout reaffirmed the strong bond between the veteran community and serving soldiers, while also highlighting the collaborative efforts of the civil administration in addressing veterans’ welfare concerns.
Major General APS Bal, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delta Force, interacted with the veterans and their families. Addressing the gathering, the GOC underscored the vital role of veterans as a bridge between the Army and civil society. He emphasized that a soldier’s dharma extends beyond active service and that veterans play a crucial role in positive nation-building initiatives.
A number of welfare and service stalls were set up during the event, providing a platform for veterans to reconnect, share experiences, and seek information on various welfare initiatives. Medical services included consultations by Army doctors and representatives from the District Hospital, along with blood tests and eye check-ups. Financial guidance was provided by officials from SBI, ICICI Bank and J&K Bank.
Officials from the District Administration Ramban, Social Welfare Department and NRLM/UMEED assisted veterans in understanding government welfare schemes, employment opportunities and community-based programmes. The presence of district administration officers facilitated prompt redressal of grievances raised by veterans and their families. Additionally, the Army’s grievance redressal mechanisms, including ECHS, SPARSH and other welfare cells, were made accessible to ensure efficient resolution of issues.
Special attention was accorded to Veer Naris in recognition of their sacrifice, courage and resilience. The Veterans Meet reinforced the Indian Army’s message that its responsibility towards soldiers continues even after retirement. Through welfare outreach, grievance redressal and community engagement, the Army continues to strengthen trust, goodwill and the enduring spirit of WeCare.
