6 drug peddlers arrested with Contraband substances: Police

Jammu : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Anantnag and Budgam in separate actions and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that a police party of Police Station Anantnag at a checkpoint near the Filtration Plant intercepted a suspect Faizan Ahmad Bhat, who was found in possession of 438 grams of charas-like substances. In a separate incident, police in Uttrasoo apprehended two individuals, Mehboob Gojjer and Rafiq Ahmad Gojjer, recovering approximately 1.150 kilograms of charas-like substance. Additionally, a police team in Budgam intercepted Rouf Ahmed Hajam, seizing over 2 kilograms of charas-like powder. At yet another checkpoint at Hardpanzoo law enforcers arrested two suspects Irfan Ahmad Mir and Owais Ahmad Bhat from whome 2.185 kilograms of charas-like substance was recovered. All cases have been registered under relevant legal sections, and investigations are currently underway. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking to combat drug peddling .
