Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has solved a theft case in Awantipora and also recovered stolen property.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that it has received a written complaint from one Umar Gani Wani S/o Ab Gani Wani, R/o Beighpora, stating therein that January 12 unknown thieves barged into his Rice Mill and stole copper wire from the transformer. A case under FIR No. 18/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation is underway.
During the investigation, a police team led by SI Muneer Ahmad, under the supervision of Inspector Ajaz Hmad, employed modern investigative techniques, including the analysis of CCTV footage from various locations. This effort resulted in the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect, Showkat Ahmad Dar, a resident of Bonpora, Panzgam. The investigation is ongoing to determine if the accused is linked to other similar crimes.
