Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession here in Shopian.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that during a routine naka checking at Dachnoo Heerpora, a police team from Police Station Heerpora apprehended a suspect Aslam Kalas, a resident of Devpora. Upon searching him, approximately 5 kilograms of a substance resembling cannabis were found in his possession. A case under FIR No. 06/2026 has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and an investigation is currently underway. In its statement police reiterated its commitment to foster a drug-free society and appealed people to assist in this important initiative.
