Jammu : Security forces on Thursday responded promptly after suspected Pakistani drones were spotted along the Line of Control and International Border while an Improvised Explosive Device was also defused by the joint team of police and army in separate incidents across the Jammu region.
“Pakistani drones were spotted along the Line of Control in Poonch district and the India-Pakistan International Border in Samba this evening following which the security force appropriately responded,” official sources said.
Defence sources confirming the incidents said, “Two incidents of drone spotting reported in Jammu Sector. Counter UAS (Unnammed Aircraft Systems or drones) measures were resorted to by the Indian Army”.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, security forces this evening recovered and defused an IED during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in village Kakora of Manjakote in Rajouri district.
“A bag was recovered from the area and upon inspection, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) found an IED,” they said.
The device was detonated on the spot while no injury or any other untoward incident was reported.
Notably, union Home Secretary, Govind Mohan is on a two-day visit to Jammu. On Wednesday, he chaired a high level security review meeting in view of the drones spotting and the ongoing search operations, and to assess the security scenario ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
