Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a significant milestone in its export development journey by securing the second rank among Small States, North Eastern States and Union Territories in the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2024, released by NITI Aayog.
The Union Territory scored an impressive 51.08 points and has been categorised as a “Leader” in the EPI 2024 classification.
The achievement reflects a remarkable improvement over previous years, with Jammu and Kashmir making a substantial leap from 17th rank in EPI 2022 to 2nd position in EPI 2024. This sharp upward movement highlights the focused, consistent and outcome-oriented efforts undertaken to strengthen the export ecosystem in the Union Territory.
The Export Preparedness Index is a comprehensive, data-driven framework that assesses the export readiness of States and UTs across key pillars including policy, business ecosystem, export ecosystem and export performance. J&K’s strong performance underscores the success of targeted interventions such as preparation of district export plans, promotion of One District One Product (ODOP) initiatives, exporter outreach and capacity-building programmes, strengthening of institutional mechanisms and enhanced facilitation for exporters.
This achievement is yet another feather in the cap of the Industries & Commerce Department, Jammu & Kashmir. It is a testament to the visionary guidance and leadership of Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, under whose direction sustained and focused efforts have been undertaken to strengthen the export ecosystem of the Union Territory. The milestone reflects the Department’s commitment to export-led growth, achieved through coordinated action, institutional strengthening and the active participation of all stakeholders, including line departments, field functionaries and the exporter community.
Jammu and Kashmir remains committed to further enhancing its export competitiveness and leveraging its unique strengths to expand its footprint in national and global markets.
