Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that In Pulwama, a police team from Police Post Newa during a naka checking intercepted a suspect Samir Ahmad Wagay, who was found in possession of 70.5 grams of a charas powder-like substance. In a separate incident in Sopore Police apprehended Musair Bashir, who attempted to flee during a similar naka checking at Parray Mohallah Hygam. A charas-like substance was also recovered from him. Both individuals have been arrested and taken to the police station, where they remain in custody. Police have registered cases against the accused under relevant legal sections at their respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to combat drug trafficking and appealed peopl to share inputs about narcotics activities.
