Handwara: In compliance with the directions of Additional Deputy Commissioner, (ADC), Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, the Sub-division Administration Handwara conducted an extensive market checking drive on Tuesday.

The drive was led by Naib Tehsildars of Handwara, Langate, Vilgam and Zachaldara, accompanied by officials from the Revenue Department, Municipal Committees and the Police Department.

The teams inspected various markets in the sub division to monitor the pricing and availability of essential commodities. The primary objective of the market checking initiative was to regulate the prices of essential items, curb hoarding practices and ensure the availability of fresh produce for the public.

During the inspection, several shopkeepers found violating regulations were fined on the spot and were also directed to maintain the availability of fresh vegetables and adhere to prescribed rates.

The administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding consumer interests and maintaining market discipline in the region.
