Director, Registrar highlight role of youth in nation-building
Srinagar: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar organized the “Run for Swadeshi” on Monday to commemorate the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, observed nationwide as National Youth Day.
Despite the ongoing winter vacations the participants gathered to promote the principles of Swadeshi, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and national unity. The event featured Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, Director (In-Charge) of NIT Srinagar, as the Chief Guest, who emphasized the importance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and encouraged the youth to support indigenous industries while maintaining physical fitness. Organized by the NSS, NCC, and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Cell under Dr. Tawseef Ayoub Sheikh’s coordination, the event included a run and a ceremony. Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director of NIT Srinagar, highlighted that celebrating National Youth Day through such initiatives translates Swami Vivekananda’s ideals into action, asserting that the youth are crucial for strengthening India’s economic and cultural foundations. He noted that consumer choices significantly impact national growth and that supporting local products is vital for a self-reliant India.
