Jammu : President J&K National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Monday reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the development of Jammu as a prominent business hub in North India, highlighting the region’s emerging potential.
During an interactive session with the Fruit Mandi Association of Narwal Jammu, Dr. Farooq Abdullah spoke about various concerns regarding the local fruit business. The association welcomed Dr. Farooq and engaged in discussions about pressing issues affecting the fruit trade and its infrastructure. Key concerns raised included the urgent need for renewing lease deeds for shopkeepers, upgrading the adjacent park, and expanding the Mandi to meet global standards. The association highlighted the necessity for improved civic amenities such as roads, parking, sanitation, and waste management, as well as reliable electricity for processing and storage facilities. In addition to immediate issues, the association outlined long-term goals to enhance the fruit business in Jammu. These goals included establishing Post-Harvest and Quality Control units, introducing Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage units, and installing hi-tech grading lines and portable graders to standardize produce.
