Srinagar : District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar Monday culminated its comprehensive week-long National Youth Day awareness drive, which commenced on 07 January 2026, by organizing a series of impactful awareness programmes at multiple locations across District Srinagar.

The sustained outreach initiative was designed to sensitize youth and the general public about legal awareness, social welfare legislations and preventive legal mechanisms, with a special focus on addressing contemporary social challenges affecting society at large.

The main concluding programme was held at Milestones Health & Learning Centre, Nowgam, in collaboration with Horizon Aid Foundation Trust, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, youth, educators and other stakeholders.

On the occasion, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel and Panel Lawyer, DLSA Srinagar, served as resource persons and delivered insightful deliberations on the importance of legal literacy, access to free and competent legal aid services, and the pivotal role of youth in upholding the rule of law and contributing towards a responsible, aware and law-abiding society. The speakers also emphasized the need for early legal intervention and awareness as effective tools for social reform.

In addition to the main programme, awareness activities were also conducted at Harwan and at the Juvenile Observation Home, where Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Srinagar actively engaged with participants and local residents. The sessions focused on creating awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, its serious legal and social consequences, and the importance of prevention, rehabilitation and community-based support systems, particularly among vulnerable sections of society.

The week-long awareness drive concluded with a strong and reaffirming message of youth empowerment through enhanced legal literacy, promotion of road safety, prevention of social evils and collective societal responsibility.

The initiative underscored DLSA Srinagar’s unwavering commitment to outreach programmes, strengthening legal awareness at the grassroots level and ensuring access to justice for all.
