Jodhpur (Rajasthan) : Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the importance of promoting ‘Swadeshi’ (local products) and ‘Swabhasha’ (mother tongue) during a recent address. He urged citizens to prioritize the use of local products and to communicate in their native languages at home. Shah highlighted that language plays a crucial role in preserving society, culture, and religion. While acknowledging the necessity of learning other languages for global progress, he insisted that Hindi and local languages should be the primary means of communication with children. This practice, he argued, would help strengthen their connection to their cultural roots.
Addressing the Maheshwari Global Convention at Jodhpur where members from the Maheshwari community had assembly Home Minister emphasized the importance of speaking one’s mother tongue at home, particularly for children, as it connects them to their cultural heritage and history. He advocated for the use of the mother tongue to preserve society, religion, and culture, while acknowledging the necessity of using other languages in different contexts. Shah highlighted the concept of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) as essential for India’s progress, urging businesses to innovate by manufacturing products that are not currently produced in the country. He stressed that achieving self-reliance is crucial for India to become a leading nation by 2047, with ‘Swadeshi’ (indigenous) practices being the guiding principle. Recognizing the Maheshwari community’s significant contributions throughout India’s history, Shah noted their role in the cultural renaissance and national unity. He described community conventions as vital for strengthening the nation, asserting that they promote unity rather than division. He further stated that if each community supports its underprivileged members, it would lead to the overall upliftment of the nation. On this occasion, Shah also released a stamp to honor the Maheshwari community’s contributions to the country’s development, reinforcing the idea that community efforts are integral to national progress.
