Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from residential house in Barbugh Imamsahib and arrested the accused in Shopian.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that Police Station Imamsahib has registered a case under FIR No. 02/2026 of the NDPS Act after a targeted operation. A search warrant was obtained and residence of Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday was raided in Barbugh. During the search, authorities recovered 20.720 kilograms of cannabis and 130 grams of a charas-like substance. The accused has been arrested, and further investigations are ongoing. Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to combat drug-related issues in society, appealing therein people to cooperate in this effort and urged them to contact a helpline number, 9596768831 (PCR Shopian), for reporting information related to drug abuse or trafficking, assuring that the identities of informants will remain confidential.
