Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has seized two L&T machines, 1 JCB and 2 tippers involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the areas of Khrew and Awantipora.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that In Khrew, a police operation led by the Station House Officer (SHO) seized vehicles for being involved in illegal excavation activities. In Awantipora also another police team, under the supervision of the local SHO, confiscated vehicles used for illegal mining and the transportation of minerals. Following these actions, cases have been registered at both Police Stations under relevant legal provisions, and further investigations are underway. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and ensure strict legal action against individuals engaged in illegal mining activities, appealing therein people to assist by reporting any unlawful activities they may observe.
