Kreeri Traders Cry Foul Over Garbage Heaps, Seek MLA’s Intervention

Kreeri(Baramulla): Unmanaged garbage heaps piling up across Kreeri Main Market have emerged as a serious public health hazard, prompting the Traders Association Kreeri (TATK) to seek urgent intervention from the district administration and concerned departments.

In an appeal addressed to MLA Wagoora–Kreeri constituency, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Director Rural Sanitation, SDPO Kreeri, BMO Kreeri, Tehsildar and SHO Kreeri, the traders highlighted the alarming sanitation conditions prevailing in the main commercial hub of the area. According to the association, Kreeri Main Market witnesses heavy public footfall daily as it caters to surrounding villages. However, the absence of a proper waste management system has led to the accumulation of solid waste at multiple locations, resulting in unhygienic conditions, foul smell, and the breeding of stray animals, thereby posing a grave threat to public health and the local environment. The issue, the traders said, has also drawn media attention, with several reputed news portals recently reporting on the deteriorating sanitation scenario in the market and the growing health risks for residents and shopkeepers.
