Jammu : An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in a remote forest area of Jammu’s Kathua district on Wednesday evening.
An official said that on a tip-off security forces cordoned of the Kamadh Nullah forest near Kahog village in the Billawar tehsil. “As the searches progressed terrorists present in the area opened fire which was retaliated to, triggering an encounter, which was continuing when reports last came in,” the official said, adding, “Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.”
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, confirmed the development in a post on X, stating: “SOG Kathua has engaged terrorists in the forest of Kamadh Nullah, Kathua.”
As per sources locals sighted a suspected terrorist around 4 pm in the Kamad Nallah area. “This individual is believed to be the same one spotted earlier in the morning at Dhannu Parole, prompting heightened alerts in the area,” they added.
Reinforcements, including teams from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have joined the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the joint operation.
The operation is being closely monitored by senior officers, including SSP Kathua. The area has been fully cordoned off and escape routes have been plugged—
