Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla & Pulwama and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that a police party at a checkpoint at Faqir-Bagh apprehended two individuals, Nisar Ahmad Malla and Mohammad Ashraf Malla, who were found in possession of significant quantities of charas-like substances. Nisar was found with 467 grams of charas and a mobile phone, while Mohammad had 33 grams of charas and cash amounting to ₹7,240. Following this, a case was registered under FIR No. 01/2026 at Police Station Chandoosa, and an investigation is currently underway. In a separate incident, police received credible inputs about Farooq Ahmad Chopan storing charas at his residence in Watergam following which 7.212 kilograms of charas-like contraband substance was recovered. A case under FIR No. 02/2026 under the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kreeri. The accused has not yet been arrested, and investigations are underway. Additionally, during routine patrols in Pulwama’s Kulpora area, police intercepted one Parvez Ahmed Dar, who was found with 4.5 kilograms of charas. A case has been registered under FIR No. 04/2026 at Police Station Litter, with further investigations aimed at uncovering the source and distribution network of the drugs.
