Minister stresses on empowerment of tribal communities through responsive governance
Srinagar: In a major outreach initiative reflecting the government’s commitment towards participatory and inclusive governance, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana, Tuesday chaired an exclusive interactive session with the eminent personalities from the tribal communities of Kashmir division at Srinagar.
The day long interaction brought together a distinguished gathering of tribal artists, writers, poets, social activists, conservationists, public representatives and community leaders, providing a meaningful platform for direct dialogue between the government and grassroot voices. The session was aimed at capturing the lived experiences and informed suggestions to refine the government’s policies and programmes for tribal welfare.
Addressing the gathering Rana emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in tribal upliftment during a recent gathering, highlighting that development must align with the aspirations and realities of tribal communities. He articulated that genuine inclusion, empowerment, and dignity for tribals can only be achieved through their active participation and the guidance of domain experts, elected representatives, and influential social figures. Rana pointed out that effective policies and their execution in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir require a governance approach that integrates community wisdom with administrative actions. He called upon writers, artists, and civil society leaders to spearhead initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of tribal and vulnerable communities, leveraging their cultural influence to mobilize support.
