Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has successfully seized an illegal fuel consignment during a routine checking operation in Pulwama.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that a police party intercepted a load carrier vehicle at Litter due to suspicions regarding its contents. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be illegally transporting six barrels of a highly flammable substance, likely petrol or diesel, without the necessary authorization or permits. Given the hazardous nature of the material and the potential threat to public safety, the police promptly seized both the vehicle and the barrels. Following this incident, the police registered a case under FIR No. 02/2026, citing violations of sections 303(2) and 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Police Station Litter. An investigation is currently underway to trace the source of the fuel, determine its intended destination, and identify any other individuals involved in the illegal transport.
