DLC Jammu highlights significance of labour law reforms

Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu, Sukhpal Singh was the chief guest of the programme, attended by Human Resource professionals from the industrial units of the Ghatti Industrial Area and contractors.
The Deputy Labour Commissioner highlighted the significance of the New Labour Codes in the context of the evolving industrial scenario. He highlighted the reforms introduced to foster transparency, improve industrial relations and ensure balanced growth.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Piyusha Khajuria in her welcome address, outlined the objectives of the programme and emphasised the need for spreading mass awareness about the New Labour Codes to ensure industrial harmony and statutory compliance.
Labour Officer (Prosecution) Jammu Sanjay Bhat presented an overview of all four Labour Codes, elaborating on their scope, objectives and the transition from the existing labour laws to the new legal framework.
Technical sessions were held on the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code- 2020 by the Labour Inspector, Ravinder Krundu who explained the key provisions related to safety, health and welfare of workers.
A dedicated session on the Industrial Relations Code-2020 was conducted by the Assistant Labour Commissioner. The ALC explained key reforms introduced under the Code in a simple and lucid manner.
An open house discussion was also held, during which queries and suggestions raised by the participants were discussed in detail.
