Baramulla : Labour Department Baramulla organised a one-day awareness programme on Labour Codes at SRM Welkin Educational Trust, Baramulla, aimed at sensitising stakeholders about recent labour law reforms and strengthening worker welfare mechanis
The programme brought together HR executives from educational institutions, school administrators, representatives of the Traders Federation, and members of the Industrial Association Sopore, providing a common platform for dialogue on creating fair, safe, and compliant workplaces.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Baramulla, Rahil Amin, who attended the programme as Chief Guest, delivered an insightful address on the four Labour Codes Code on Wages, Industrial Relations Code, Code on Social Security, and Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions Code. He highlighted the progressive features of the Codes, noting that they replace outdated laws with simplified, transparent, and worker-friendly provisions.
The ALC emphasised enhanced social security coverage, improved dispute resolution mechanisms, and strengthened occupational safety standards, stressing that the reforms aim to ensure dignity, protection, and prosperity for workers while promoting sustainable economic growth.
An official from the ALC office also gave a detailed presentation on the Code on Social Security, highlighting its significance in extending social security benefits to unorganised and gig workers who were previously outside the formal framework.
The programme witnessed active participation and interactive discussions, equipping participants with practical knowledge for effective implementation and compliance with the Labour Codes.
The initiative reflects the Labour Department Baramulla’s continued commitment to bridging the gap between policy and practice and to promoting worker empowerment, industrial harmony, and informed governance across the district.
