DLSA organises series of awareness Progs across Reasi Distt

Reasi: Under the leadership of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) Khalil Choudhary, Secretary DLSA Pooja Gupta Saturday visited the Legal Aid Clinic at Bhambla.

The PLV deputed at the Legal Aid Clinic was present. During the visit, the Secretary checked the registers maintained at the clinic. The PLV was directed to maintain proper records of the visitors.

Meanwhile, awareness programs were organised in collaboration with Social Welfare Department Reasi on Prohibition of Child Marriage at Madarssa, Zero Morh Talwara and Panchayat Ghar Bagga.

Monika Sanmotra from One Stop Centre Reasi was the Resource Person at Panchayat Ghar Bagga.

The resource person and PLVs sensitized the general public, especially parents and guardians to the ill effects and legal consequences of child marriage, provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 and the importance of ensuring education, health and overall development of children. They were also informed about free legal aid services available through DLSA Reasi and the role of Legal Services Authorities in safeguarding the rights of women and children.

Another program was organised at Slum areas at Katra on the topic Right to Education (RTE) Act. The program was organised by PLVs of TLSC Katra to spread awareness among underprivileged communities about the constitutional and legal rights to free and compulsory education of children. The participants were encouraged to enroll their children in nearby government schools. They were informed about the free facilities provided by the government, including textbooks, mid day meals etc. The PLVs also addressed queries of the public and emphasized the importance of education in building a better and empowered society.

An awareness program was organised at Court Complex Mahoreon Strengthening Access to Justice for Marginalized Vulnerable Adivasis and Denotified/ Nomadic Tribes (SAMVAD) Scheme 2025. Panel Lawyer TLSC Mahore Imran Akram was the resource person.

The objective of the program was to educate masses that justice is accessible to all without any discrimination of caste or tribe.

Similarly, an awareness program was also organised at District Court Complex, Reasi on “Mediation for the Nation 2.0” in compliance with the Supreme Court guidelines.

Deputy LADC Bhumica Sharma and Assistant LADC Niharika Bamotra were the resource persons. They focused on promoting mediation processes as an effective, time bound and amicable mode of dispute resolution, highlighting its role in reducing litigation and ensuring speedy justice.

Likewise, awareness cum painting competition was organised at Sub Jail Reasi. The jail inmates actively participated showcasing their talent in fine art. The inmates were also made aware about their legal rights and provided legal advice by the visiting lawyers.
