B’pora: In a moment of immense pride for Jammu & Kashmir, particularly to district Bandipora, Dr Anjum Ara, Medical Officer at the District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC), Bandipora, has been conferred the Rabindranath Tagore Lifetime Achievement Award by the Welred Foundation, West Bengal, under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India and Prestigious Doctor’s Award by Worthy Wellness Foundation.

The prestigious honours, awarded after due scrutiny and evaluation, recognises Dr Anjum Ara’s outstanding contribution to public health, compassionate medical service, and her exemplary role in drug de-addiction and rehabilitation. The Certificate of Excellence acknowledges her as an Excellent Doctor whose dedication, perseverance and commitment to excellence have set a benchmark in the healthcare sector.

Dr Anjum Ara has been at the forefront of medical and rehabilitative services at DDAC Bandipora, a flagship initiative of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India by the District Administration Bandipora under the NAPDDR framework, implemented by JKSWM. Her patient-centric approach, ethical medical practice and unwavering commitment towards the recovery and reintegration of individuals battling substance abuse have earned her widespread respect among patients, professionals and civil society alike.

The awards also bring national attention to the District Drug De-Addiction Centre, Bandipora. The centre provides integrated services including medical treatment, counselling, detoxification, psychosocial support, awareness generation and rehabilitation, ensuring holistic recovery and dignity for every individual.

Welred Foundation, in its official citation, lauded Dr Anjum Ara for being a source of inspiration, stating that her work reflects the spirit of service and humanism associated with the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore. The awards were formally issued under Certificate No. WF/6551/2025, dated December 15, 2025 and WWF/PDA/IN-371 Dated: 26-12-2025 respectively.

Healthcare professionals, administrators and social sector leaders across the region have congratulated Dr Anjum Ara, terming the honour as a collective recognition of DDAC Bandipora’s relentless efforts in addressing one of the most pressing social and public health challenges of the time.

This national-level recognition not only celebrates an individual’s lifelong dedication but also reinforces Bandipora’s growing reputation as a district committed to innovative, empathetic and impactful healthcare interventions.
