Jammu : Relief Organization J&K, in collaboration with various Government departments, organised a series of special awareness camps at Migrant Camps Jagti, Nagrota, Muthi, Purkoo and at Durga Nagar in the last week to promote government schemes and services.
Detailed information was imparted about self employment generation schemes, particularly Mission YUVA to promote entrepreneurship among Migrant Youth.
The Social Welfare Department imparted awareness on social sector schemes designed to provide social security, health, education aid to the marginalized section.
More than 200 potential beneficiaries were facilitated in filling online applications for various pension schemes like Old Age, Widow and Disability Pension.
A team of doctors from the Health Department conducted the camps and examined more than 2000 persons. Free medicines were distributed among the patients as per their requirements.
Special counters were set up to facilitate registration of beneficiaries for the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and National Food Security Act (NFSA) schemes.
The Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) J&K Dr. Arvind Karwani took stock of the problems being faced by the migrants. He inspected the Health Centre, Zonal Office (Relief) and Higher Secondary Schools in the Jagti camp area and assured residents of early resolution of their genuine demands.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Vijay Sharma; Assistant Commissioners of Relief Organization-Kailash Devi, Sanjeev Kumar and Tej Krishan; Mukhlis Ali, Assistant Director Employment and other senior officers/officials of Relief Organization.
