Reasi: Under the directions of the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) Khalil Choudhary, a review meeting was Friday held to assess the working of Para Legal Volunteers atReasi and TLSC Mahore.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary DLSA Pooja Gupta at Reasi and by Chairman TLSC HimanshooAttri at Mahore.
During the meeting, the performance and field activities of PLVs were reviewed in detail. Emphasis was laid on strengthening legal awareness at the grassroots level, effective identification of beneficiaries entitled to free legal aid and timely dissemination of information regarding the legal services schemes. The PLVs were encouraged to work with renewed dedication. They were asked to reach out to marginalized and vulnerable sections of society, especiallyin remote areas.
The Secretary DLSA Reasi and Chairman TLSC Mahore highlighted the crucial role of PLVs as a bridge between the legal services institutions and the public. The PLVs were asked to conduct regular field visits, ensure proper documentation of activities and maintain coordination with legal services authorities to ensure effective implementation of legal aid progra
Both the meetings concluded with a collective resolve to further strengthen the legal aid delivery system and ensure access to justice for all.
Meanwhile, an awareness program was also organised in collaboration with District Social Welfare Department at MadarssaNowabadReasi to spread public awareness about the Prohibition of Child Marriage.
The PLVs sensitized the general public especially parents and guardians to the ill effects and legal consequences of child marriage, provisions of the Prohibition of child Marriage Act-2006 and the importance of ensuring education, health and overall development of children.
They were also informed about free Legal Aid services available through DLSA Reasi and the role of Legal Services Authorities in safeguarding the rights of women and children.
The campaign was well received by the local residents, who appreciated the efforts of DLSA Reasi and Social Welfare Department in spreading legal awareness and promoting social justice
