Srinagar : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted searches at two locations in south Kashmir’s Shopian district in connection with its ongoing probe into the November 10 blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort that killed 11 people and injured several others, officials said on Friday.
According to officials, NIA teams assisted by local police carried out searches in the Pandoshan and Gagran villages in Shopian on Friday.
They said the raids were conducted at the instance of Yasir Ahmad Dar, one of the accused in the case, who was brought to the locations by the agency during the searches.
Dar, a resident of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested from New Delhi by NIA on December 18 and booked under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act), 1967, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Dar, the ninth accused arrested in the case by NIA, had allegedly informed investigators about the locations, prompting the searches.
NIA investigations have revealed Dar’s active role in the conspiracy behind the car bomb blast. An active participant in the conspiracy, he had sworn allegiance and taken an oath for carrying out self-sacrificial operations.
After his arrest investigations had also found Yasir was in close contact with the other accused persons in the case, including Umar Un Nabi -the deceased perpetrator of the bombing- as well as Mufti Irfan.
