DC Kathua assesses reconstruction of Flood-hit projects; reviews AMRUT works

Kathua: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma Friday inspected the damaged assets during the August floods last year and heavy rains to assess reconstruction plans being prepared by the concerned departments under SDRF nor

At Lakhanpur, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Dr Sanjay Gupta, inspected the Rinderpest Checkpost Building located along the Ravi River, which was severely damaged due to flooding.

The DC took stock of the structural damage and directed the concerned department to expedite the preparation of a comprehensive reconstruction plan. He emphasized the need to adopt resilient and durable construction practices to ensure safety and longevity of the assets.

The Deputy Commissioner also visited other flood-affected locations where permanent reconstruction plans are under formulation. He reviewed the progress of damage assessment and instructed the concerned departments to complete DPRs in a time-bound manner as per SDRF guidelines, with priority accorded to restoration of essential public infrastructure.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur and XEN PHE, visited Parole Municipal Areas to assess the progress of ongoing works under AMRUT 2.0. He reviewed the pace and quality of water supply and sewerage works and directed the executing agencies to adhere strictly to the prescribed timelines and quality standards to ensure improved urban service delivery.
