ADDC Shopian reviews progress of key Power Sector initiatives, Asks for accelerating pace of ongoing works

Shopian: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, Friday conducted a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of key power sector initiatives viz. PM Surya Ghar (Rooftop Solar Scheme) and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian.

The ADDC undertook a scheme-wise review of ongoing works and sought detailed inputs from KPDCL, executing agencies, Project Management Agencies (PMAs) and vendors. He reviewed the progress achieved since the last meeting, targets fixed and identified gaps requiring immediate attention.

Emphasising the importance of renewable energy adoption, the ADDC directed concerned officers to accelerate rooftop solar installations under PM Surya Ghar and ensure maximum household enrollment.

While reviewing RDSS components, the ADDC underscored the need for strengthening distribution infrastructure to improve overall power reliability. He called for close coordination among KPDCL, PGCIL and civil works executing divisions to adhere to project timelines, especially with regard to smart metering, installation of distribution transformers (DTs), cabling works,etc.

He further instructed all agencies to submit periodic progress reports and strictly adhere to the fixed timelines for completion of works under various RDSS components.

The meeting was informed that 8,123 smart meters, 181 distribution transformers, 5,714 electric poles under RDSS and 351 rooftop solar panels under PM Surya Ghar have been installed in the district till date.

The meeting was attended by Executive Engineers of KPDCL, R&B, STD and Projects Division, LDM Shopian, Senior Manager PGCIL, and representatives of PMA agencies, smart metering firms, cable contractors and vendors associated with PM Surya Ghar and RDSS.
