Baramulla, Jan 02: The body of a woman who had been missing for nearly two months was recovered on Friday from the Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Atiqa Begum, a resident of Kreeri, who went missing from her home on November 05, 2025. Following her disappearance, her family had lodged a missing report at Police Station Kreeri on the same day.
Police officials said the body was spotted early in the morning by local residents, who immediately informed the authorities. Acting on the information, a police team rushed to the spot and took the body into custody.
The body, which was in a decomposed condition, was shifted to the Sub-District Hospital Kreeri for medico-legal formalities. Officials said a post-mortem examination is underway to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation from all possible angles to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Further details are awaited.
