Gulmarg : The world-famous ski resort Gulmarg is witnessing massive tourist arrivals as New Year celebrations kicked off with grandeur, snow and music on Wednesday.
Reports said that Gulmarg has achieved nearly full occupancy in its hotels and guesthouses, establishing itself as a central hub for winter festivities in Kashmir. In response to the influx of visitors, extensive security and logistical measures have been implemented to ensure the smooth operation of the events. This includes the deployment of police, rescue teams, crowd management systems, and medical facilities throughout the resort. Tariq Hussain Naik, the Chief Executive Officer of the Gulmarg Development Authority, expressed appreciation for both nature and the tourists, highlighting the recent snowfall as crucial for the tourism sector, which is vital to the region’s economy. He emphasized that Gulmarg remains a top destination for travelers across India and extended a warm welcome to all visitors, assuring them of a safe and vibrant experience. Naik noted the local community’s hospitality, which helps transform tourists into ambassadors for Kashmir’s positive image. He conveyed gratitude to visitors for choosing Gulmarg and reaffirmed the commitment to serving them with care and positivity. Additionally, the Department of Tourism and the Gulmarg Development Authority have launched a seven-day Winter Carnival, featuring various snow sports, skiing events, musical evenings, and cultural shows. This initiative aims to celebrate the winter allure of Gulmarg while promoting messages of peace, hospitality, and unity from Kashmir to the broader country.
