Srinagar: During the year 2025, District Police Kulgam implemented sustained and result-oriented strategies to curb crime, enhance public safety, and strengthen community trust through effective and citizen-centric policing. Key achievements for the year are summarized below:
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that In 2025, the Kulgam Police under a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and abuse registered 87 FIRs under the NDPS Act besides implicating 111 individuals and recovering contraband substances valued at several crores. Two significant cases culminated in convictions, with offenders receiving sentences of 10 years and life imprisonment. In addition police also attached seven residential properties worth approximately ₹4.32 crore under the NDPS Act, aiming to eliminate the financial incentives for criminal activities. Furthermore, a motorcycle was seized under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to hinder the mobility of those engaged in unlawful acts, reinforcing the police’s commitment to combating anti-national elements. In addressing illegal mining activities police registered 167 FIRs against 229 individuals, seizing 235 vehicles, including dumpers and tractors. Through Cyber Police Station, Kulgam Police received 762 complaints via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and returned the recovered ₹79,60,258.98 to the victims of cyber fraud. Additionally, ₹10,94,500 was allocated for 14 community-oriented and sports-based initiatives under the Community Action Program (CAP). Police also successfully blocked 97 lost or stolen mobile phones and traced 41 devices, returning them to their rightful owners. SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary (IPS) has appealed people to remain vigilant and report any anti-social or anti-national activities.
